The Canada Vigilance Adverse Reaction Online Database offers insights into suspected adverse reactions, commonly known as side effects, associated with health products.
Adverse reaction reports come from various sources:
- voluntary submissions from consumers and health professionals
- mandatory submissions from manufacturers and distributors (also identified as market authorization holders), as stipulated by the Food and Drugs Act

This database encompasses data collected from 1965 until 2024-05-31.
Since January 1, 2011, information regarding vaccines utilized for immunization has been part of the database, with data on human blood and its components added on September 1, 2015.
It’s essential to note that the database should not be solely relied upon to assess a health product’s safety profile, as it does not deliver definitive details concerning the safety of such products.
